blubberParticipantBG said in a note published today that US packaged game sales y/y in December were -2%, but about +6% including bundles.
BG also notes that hardware sales in December were down 4% y/y (vs. BG expectation of a double-digit decline) because of tough comps (new-gen consoles were launched in Nov. 2013) and lower console prices.
Xbox One was the best-selling console for the 2nd time in CY14.
BG stated that packaged software sales were down 2% y/y (vs. BG +7% est.), but including bundled games (a major factor at end-2014) the reality is rather close to +6% (vs. BG +10% est.).
BG said Ubisoft ranked 2 games in the Top 10 (in line with BG est.) and 4 games including bundled software (vs. BG est. of 3 games).BG concluded that their hierarchy of ratings remains unchanged:
« UBISOFT (Buy – Target Price EUR21) is in our Top Pick list, and we remain cautious on GAMELOFT (Neutral – FV EUR3.3) ». -
